The EDD announced that the 2000 rate for state disability insurance (SDI) will remain at 0.5 percent. However, the maximum wage base will increase from $31,767 to $46,327. This means that the maximum SDI withholding for 2000 will increase from $158.84 to $231.64.
That is a 69% tax increase on a person exceed the limit.
